Frequently asked questions about waffle recipes
Before pouring in the waffle batter, make sure the waffle iron is well heated. An iron that is too cold will not cook the inside of the waffle properly. Then they won’t become nice and fluffy. The waffle is then also more likely to split and stick to the pan.
Replace it with a very thin layer of butter or possibly vegetable oil on the waffle iron. It is important to keep it really THIN too. Lots of oil makes the waffles greasy.
Waffles often need a higher percentage of sugar and fat in the batter. This creates the crispy edges. I wouldn’t replace one with the other if I were you
Some other tips and tricks!
- A golden tip is the Dash Waffle Iron. This is an affordable waffle iron that you can easily clean. Besides, it always makes really good, golden-brown waffles.
- In the Dash waffle iron, the waffles take around three minutes to cook through. It may vary from one waffle iron to another, so it may take a little longer for you to cook waffles golden brown. Storage tips
I sometimes make a lot of waffles at the weekend and keep any extras in the freezer. Then you have handy ”toaster waffles” for your breakfast.
To freeze waffles
- Let all waffles cool completely
- Put everything in freezer bags with a sheet of greaseproof paper between the waffles to prevent them from sticking. Store them in the freezer until you are going to use them.
To reheat frozen waffles
Place the waffle in a toaster or in the oven and heat until cooked. So you can reheat frozen waffles at 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover the waffles with foil to prevent them from drying out during reheating.
