Like us, do you love healthy juices made from fruits and vegetables? Then a slow juicer can come in handy. In our Slowjuicer test, we tested 15 juicers based on build quality, ease of use, performance, additional features and price.
In making our selection with the 10 best juicers, we took into account a variety of needs and budgets. For our test, we not only tested slow juicers, but also centrifugal juicers. But what are the differences between a slow juicer and a centrifugal juicer?
Slow juicer or juice extractor: which one suits you?
- Slow juicer: It extracts juice from fruits, vegetables, and nuts at low speeds with a rotating cone. Suitable for hard and leafy vegetables. It’s quieter but slower than a juicer and tends to be more expensive.
- Juice extractor: A traditional juicer quickly extracts juice using a sharp grater spinning at 20,000 rpm. It’s faster but noisier than a slow juicer, and may leave some pulp in the juice.
Is a slow juicer healthier?
Many manufacturers make claims that a slow juicer (also known as a cold press juicer) should be healthier; more vitamins and enzymes are said to remain because no heat is released. They also claim that cold press juciers release up to 80% more juice. This could be true, but there is no research to show if this is actually true or if it is just sales pitches.

Other machines tested
We hope our TOP-10 helps you find the best slow juicer. Below we briefly discuss the other tested slow masticating juicers:
- Princess 202045 Easy Fill: This is a good juicer for one with an extra large opening for larger ingredients such as an apple or pear. This could have been one of the best cold press juicers, but the build quality was a bit disappointing.
- Kenwood PureJuice JMP600WH: We had high expectations for this cold press juicer. Unfortunately, it was disappointing, especially for people who like to use the device for leafy vegetables such as wheatgrass.
- Sage the 3X Bluicer Pro: This vertical juicer would have been in the TOP-10 of best slow juicing machines. You can also use this juicer as a blender.
- Ninja Cold Press Juicer Machine JC100UK: This Ninja cold press juicer did not disappoint, especially for the good price you pay.
- Bosch VitaJuice 3 MES3500GB: This is the best buy for a juice centrifuge. Good price and fairly easy to clean compared to other juicers.
Buying a slow juicer, what do you look out for?
Of course, buying a slow cold press juicer is not something you do every week. So, to find out what is the best machine for you, you will have to think about a few things:
- Slow or regular juicer: A slow (cold press) juicer is often a bit more expensive, makes less noise, is more suitable for leafy vegetables such as wheatgrass and products claim to leave you with more nutrients. Centrifugal juicers are faster, and in some cases easier to clean and therefore more suitable for daily use.
- Size: If you have a small kitchen, choose a slow masticating juicer with a compact size. Think beforehand whether you will leave it on the countertop or store it in the kitchen cupboard.
- Horizontal or vertical cold press juicer: Horizontal cold press juicers take up more space, but are better at pressing leafy vegetables for green juice. It is claimed that a vertical slow masticating juicer produces more juice, but we have not tested this.
- Daily use or weekly: Do you plan to use the machine daily? Then choose a juicer that is easy to clean (dishwasher-safe). If you use the slow juicer occasionally, then we recommend a compact juicer that is easier to store. Good build quality is also important for daily use.
- Hard ingredients: Do you like making juice from hard vegetables or do you also want to use the appliance for nut milk? Then choose a machine with a powerful motor.
- Juice with fibre: Do you like to drink high-fibre juice? Then choose a centrifugal juicer with different speeds or which includes different filters.
- Extra large filling opening: If you don’t feel like cutting vegetables beforehand, choose a machine with an extra large filling opening. Then you can start juicing straight away.
Are you buying a new juicer for the first time and not quite at home in the world of juicers just yet? Then don’t forget to read our beginner’s guide to slow juicers. In it, we explain exactly what a slow/cold press juicer is and discuss everything you need to know about juicers.
Conclusion: which is the best slow juicer for you?
In our opinion, the Kuvings Juicer Evo 820 is the best juicing machine we have tested. The Danish company Kuvings is a specialist in this field. Of course, you pay for the quality (and maybe a little for the name), but you get a perfectly functioning and rock solid slow juicer in return.
If you do want to spend a little less, we recommend the Nutribullet Juicer and the even cheaper Cookworks Spin Juicer. Both are excellent devices that do what they are supposed to do, but are a lot cheaper than the Kuvings Juicer Evo 820.
If you plan to only juice with the slow juicer, it’s really a waste of the money you spend on it. There are juicers and citrus juicers that are a lot more affordable and also produce fine juices. If you’re looking for the best citrus juicer, check out the Smeg CJF01WHUK 50’s Style Retro and the SAGE 3X Juicer SJB615SHY Juicer.
A final word: You should know what you want before actually buying slow/cold press juicers or centrifugal juicers!
